Delores began her life journey on June 1st, 1925 as the third of six children born to Elmer and Blanche Prybil on the family farm near Barneston, Nebraska. Siblings Lorraine, LeRoy, Jeanette and Glenadine have passed on after long, productive lives, her brother Richard (Dick), is in his nineties and still resides in Nebraska with wife, Shirley. Delores looked forward to the frequent callas and the memories they shared during those calls. She always maintained a pride in her Nebraska roots, and often described herself as a misplaced Cornhusker. The values of those early years of farm life and the shared family efforts were the principles that guided her through life.
She spent her own family years primarily in Wichita, Kansas and strived to instill those same values into her own children, She enjoyed and supported their years of participation in scouting, school activities, music and song, and their individual achievements. Her active involvement in The Christian Church Women’s Auxiliary earned her many friends and much personal satisfaction. She loved singing and hearing the hymns of the church- “keep a song and prayer in your heart and offer them to others”.
When asked about changes and events that had occurred or affected her over the hundred years of her life, she said she would never forget seeing her first television. Also the way roads and travel had improved so much, - the wars and how they affected so many people, -- the telephone, and what they have become now and just so many things that people just don’t know are so much better, or don’t know about from early on.
She remembers most fondly the years spent with her late husband, George and the friends and community in and around Maize, Kansas. In the years she has resided in assisted living, she has found many friends and acquaintances, shared many memories and stories, and appreciated the fellowship and companionship from both residents, staff, and caregivers.
Delores left many notes and readings to share in her passing. She did not fear her destiny, and asks that you do not grieve, for she knew and reveled on the faith she would spend eternity in the glory of the kingdom of heaven, and she prayed for it through ninety nine years and fifty-one weeks. Now she is at peace.
Delores is survived by her daughters, Catherine( Cathy) Stroud and Linda Jones. Grandchildren, Craig, Jami, Jeff, and Aaron; step – granddaughter, Trina and Jenny. Great grandchildren include Amanda, Allysia, Ashley, Michael, Aaron Jr, Alexis, Brittany and Brenner. An abundance of nieces and nephews, their children and their children create the many branches of the family tree that made her so happy and proud.
Her body will be laid to rest in Wichita, Kansas next to her son, James (Jim) in Roselawn addition, Old Mission/ Wichita Cemetery.
