Desiré Michelle Shirley, 41, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She was born on June 20, 1979, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Earl and Beverly Shirley.

She was a 1997 graduate of Putnam City Original High School and went on to attend Oklahoma City University. Desiré became a Certified Scrub Technician/Sterile Processing Technician and travelled around the U.S. with this job.

To know Desiré was to love her, and she unconditionally loved you back. That's just the type of person she was, overflowing with life and love. At an early age she discovered her love for sports; she excelled at gymnastics, basketball, softball and golf. She was passionate about the ocean and marine life, with her favorite being dolphins. Desiré had a heart for all animals big and small and went out of her way to take care of her beloved pets. She loved to travel and enjoyed beach vacations especially Hawaii, as well as hiking through the forests of the Pacific Northwest. She was truly the life of the party and her smile would light up the room.

If there was food, she was eating; music, she was dancing, a song, she was singing, and anything within reach could double as a microphone. She had an infectious laugh and her silly giggle alone could brighten even the darkest of days. Desiré cherished her family and friends and always made sure you knew she loved you. 41 years was a brief moment in time, but her life was so full of love. She will genuinely be missed and forever loved.

Desiré is survived by her father and step-mother, Earl (Ike) and Phyllis Shirley; mother and step-father, Beverly Shirley and Jim Nance; sister, Amanda and brothers, Brandon and Hunter. Desiré also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, life-long friends, and the love of her life, Mitchell B. Lewis, to honor her memory.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A graveside in honor of Desiré will take place on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.

A special thank you to Kylie Machala Copeland for all you have done!

I had the pleasure of knowing Desi. I was so sad when Mitch contacted me. Desi was such a beautiful soul inside and out. She definitely could light up a room. When she left my department in Grants Pass, we stayed in contact. We continued our friendship long distance I will definitely miss our conversations. Please take care and know she made an impact on my life.

What a sweet brilliant light Des was. She could light up the world with her smile and laughter. I only knew her a short time working with us but God she made a difference. There aren’t many who can touch your soul but she was one of them. That’s truly what makes an angel💕

I will always remember Desire’s big smile and her love of my dogs. She would feed them with her own fork.
She was a lovely lady and her presence will be gratefully mourned in this world.
God bless her and her family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

All of those who love you are deeply saddened that you lost your beloved Desiree. We cannot imagine your pain. God loves you beyond any depth of love imaginable in this world. He does not ask us to understand His ways, and although it seems difficult after such a loss as this, He only asks that we trust Him. Lean into Him during your sadness, and He will comfort you. “ For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though He brings grief, he will show compassion. So great is His unfailing love. For He does not willingly bring grief or affliction to anyone. “ Lamentations 3:31-33 All my love to you. Lyne Ann

Beverly, all I can offer is prayers for peace and the reminder of His presence in our greatest time of need. I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter. I cannot fathom.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Beverly
I didn’t have the opportunity to know your precious daughter. I can see how beautiful she is and your loss must be devastating. I’m so thankful for God’s promise of heaven where those who love Him will be together through out all eternity. That is the hope of our salvation..... God’s promise to cling to through this painful time. We are praying for you and your family as you walk through this valley. Love and prayers Karla Westbury ( high school friend). Jer.33:3

Beverly, I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved daughter. Although I never met her, in the photos she has your same beautiful smile that I remember from high school. I pray that God will give you comfort in the difficult days ahead. You are surrounded with love from all your friends.
