Donice Marie Rippetoe was born November 6, 1927 in Geary, Oklahoma to Claude and Maude Smithpeter. She attended Geary High School where she played in the band and was loved by everyone. Donice attended Southwestern State College where she met her husband of 51 years, Don E. Rippetoe. After raising four children to school age, she graduated from Phillips University where she received her teaching degree. Donice and Don were both school teachers in Oklahoma where they touched many lives and made countless friends.
After teaching in Ames, Fairview, Altus, and Blanchard, Donice moved to Oklahoma City with her husband Don. She spent several years volunteering at Third Age Center at Integris Baptist where she made many friends.
Donice is preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Rippetoe. She is survived by her children, David Rippetoe and wife Sharon of Oklahoma City; Don E. Rippetoe Jr. and wife Christi of Cherokee, OK; Dee Richardson of Oklahoma City; Debbie Oliphant of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Mallory Oliphant of Burlingame, CA and Emily Oliphant of Oklahoma City; Danielle Miller and husband Everett of Washington Court House, Ohio and their children Wyatt and Josselyn. She is also survived by her sister, Stella Sageser, and niece, Lynn Sageser, of Oklahoma City; and brother, Jesse Smithpeter and wife Toby of Muskogee, OK. She also leaves her faithful shih tzu, Annie.
Donice loved reading, watching sports, listening to music, and visiting with her friends and family.
The family extends special thanks to Companion Hospice, especially Candy and Lizzie, for their expert care, attention, and love.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Chapel 6600 Broadway Extension. Donations may be made to Companion Hospice in Donice’s name.
