

Dora Mae Wantland, 87, died May 9, 2019 at the Tuttle Care Center in Tuttle, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation at 7720 S Penn in OKC. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 9am to 12pm and a graveside service will take place later that day at 2pm at Kolb Cemetery near Spencer.
Dora was born on August 30, 1931 in Spencer, OK to Nicholas Frederick and Audra Eleanor Peters. She attended Sunnyside School and Jones High School. On September 1, 1950 Dora Mae married Robert (Bob) Wantland at the Spencer Methodist Church in Spencer, OK. The couple lived in Stillwater for a short time before the moved their home on 61st in OKC where they lived and raised their two children. They resided there until Bob’s passing in 1995. Dore Mae lived there until 2017 when she moved to the Tuttle Care Center.
Prior to having children, Dora worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She spent the majority of her life caring for her husband, children, home, and serving in her church. She spent many years engraving plastic signs for local businesses.
Dora Mae enjoyed playing the piano, baking pies, playing Skip Bo and Uno, canning, gardening, and sewing tailored clothes. She had a strong faith in God’s word and she stood unwavering on His promises. Her testimony of faith was an encouragement to all who knew her. Bob and Dora spent many years attending Crossroads Cathedral in S.OKC.
Dora Mae was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Wantland; her parents Nicholas Frederick and Audra Eleanor Peters; three brothers: Ellsworth Peters, Vergil Peters, and Ernest Lee Peters. She is survived by her two children: Bobbi Perry and husband Doug of Granbury, TX and Randy Wantland of OKC; Grandson Shae Bailey and wife Dawn of Eufaula, OK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
