Dori was born on December 28, 1965 in Sioux City, Iowa to John Herman and Helen (Lapinig) Buehlmann. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from North High School. After high school she attended Iowa State where she studied psychology. She worked as a Nanny in Newark, NJ before moving to Carrolton, TX in the late 80s. In the early 90s she went to work for Budget Car Rental as a customer service agent, and after Budget’s merger with Cardis, she took over the position of relocation specialist. In 2006 Dori met the love of her life, Edward D. Scott, while watching mechanical bull riding at a bar in Dallas, TX. Edward took her on their first date to Dave and Buster’s, and 5 months later the two were married on October 21st, 2006. Together they lovingly raised one daughter, Marisa Scott, who was Dori’s world. Ed and Dori relocated to Jonesboro, AR in 2011 for Ed’s job, where they stayed for 18 months before moving to Oklahoma City in 2013. Dori soon accepted a position as a receptionist for Bevco, where she stayed for 5 years until her health forced her into early retirement in April of 2019.
Dori Scott loved life. She was a pro at finding bargain garage sales. She spent time volunteering at Marisa’s school and being the Girl Scout leader for Troop 71. She also loved sitting outside enjoying the sunlight, being a mom to many of Marisa’s friends, and making sure that Marisa had every possible opportunity in life. She will be remembered as a strong woman who was a positive light in lives of other’s. She encouraged others and found joy in the smallest of thing. Above all else, she cherished her time with her husband and daughter. Dori was an extraordinarily strong woman and fought a very serious illness for over a decade without a complaint. She made the best out of every situation and never let her failing health get in the way of taking the best care of her daughter and family. Dori
Scott was a courageous woman, a loyal wife, a proud mother, and a trusted friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dori was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Buehlmann; and brother-in-law, Wes Martin.
She is survived by her husband, Edward D. Scott; daughter, Marisa Scott; sisters, Lorna J. Martin and Rose Castaneda and husband Roberto; brother, James M. Buehlmann and wife Michelle; brother-in-law, Bryan Scott and wife Susie; mother-in-law, Patricia Sides and husband Tommy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends.
