Marie attended schools in Arapaho and Morrison Oklahoma where she was the all-district basketball champion. She had her first child, Connie, when she worked in Morrison at the telephone company that her grandmother owned. She later moved to Oklahoma City and worked for John A. Brown, Southwestern Bell (1954-1963) and Tinker Air Force Base (1965-1990, Retired).
Following her retirement she worked at the Harrah Nursing Center, Enway Trucking, and held various positions including President of the Harrah Special Athletes Association (HSAA). She was passionately involved in many leadership and community events, and enjoyed several activities, including coaching her granddaughters youth basketball team, cooking, hosting family reunions, planning sister trips, bird watching, crocheting, playing cards, making her famous cinnamon candy, Special Olympics, and preparing holiday meals, including everyone’s favorite homemade noodles. She also enjoyed reading books to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie was many things to many people: a daughter, a sister, a mother, an aunt, a Grandma, Gee Gee, and a friend. She leaves a legacy of recipes along with so many happy memories. She has been, and will always be, the strength, the roots, and the glue of our family. Each day that passes we will celebrate her life.
