

Doris Margaret Welch ("Gma" or "Mama"), age 90, passed away on June 27, 2026, in Midwest City, Oklahoma.Doris was born on January 19, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, to Byron Eugene Strickland and Margaret Elizabeth Pilcher. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord. On November 12, 1949, she married the love of her life, John T. Welch. They shared more than 64 years of marriage until his passing in December 2013. As a proud military wife, Doris faithfully supported her husband and family throughout the years. She also dedicated part of her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a nursing home. Throughout her life, Doris called Missouri, Alabama, and Florida home before settling in Oklahoma in 1969. She found joy in listening to gospel music, loved the color pink, and took every opportunity to be at church surrounded by family and friends. She was known for sharing her photo albums with anyone willing to sit and visit. Doris also loved a good joke or a lighthearted prank. Doris lived by example, teaching those she loved the importance of kindness, respect, compassion, and love. She was also known for reminding everyone to watch their language and avoid cuss words. Above all, Doris's greatest joy was her family. Her unwavering faith in God guided her throughout her life, and her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family never wavered. Doris is survived by her children John Jr. Welch (Susan) of Bay Minette, Alabama; Mark Welch of Wiscision; Nolan Welch (Kim) of Wausau, Wisconsin; Connie Welch of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Steve Welch of Midwest City, Oklahoma. As well as 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Fur babies, CoCo and Trouble. She is preceded in death by her husband John T Welch; parents Byron Eugene Strickland and Margaret Elizabeth Pilcher; children Dolan Welch and siblings Chester Strickland and Mark.
Visitation will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on July 2, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral at the same location on July 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on July 2, 2026.
