

She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, June 30, 1925, where she attended public schools, including Little Rock Senior High School, and Little Rock Junior College (now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock) on a scholarship. She began work as a dental assistant at Camp Robinson military installation outside Little Rock.
Following WWII, she married Lawrence R. Crane of Wichita, Kansas, a bomber pilot who flew 30 missions in Europe and was a POW. They produced two children whom she often said were the best thing that ever happened to her.
Her professional career included stints at Boeing Co. (Wichita); Sedgwick County (KS) Government; and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (Little Rock). Her interests included watercolor painting, reading, church, travel, and exercise. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Francis Harlin (nee McMahon) and John Luther Harlin, and her daughter Sheralyn Margaret Crane Tamez. Her grandfather, Andrew Patrick McMahon, was a prominent attorney and mayor of El Dorado, Arkansas. She also was related to Felix Luther Winkler, M.D., a one-time mayor of Kingfisher, Okla., and the last president of the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature prior to Oklahoma becoming a state in 1907.
Survivors include her son, Edwin D. Crane; cousins Judith McReynolds, Mary Anne Chittenden Gooley, and Linda Vines; nephew James B. Crane (Janet); and nieces Lindy Crane Delf, and Rebecca Crane Okada (Joel).
Her ashes will be interred in the Harlin family cemetery plot in El Dorado, Arkansas.
