

Dorothy I. Sessions, 98, passed away December 9, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dorothy was born on October 21, 1915 in Electra, Texas, the first child of Frank and Marguerite Basham. She had five siblings, Frank G. Basham, James H. Basham, John A. Basham, Patricia Basham Cook and Joe Rowland Basham, all of whom preceded her in death. Dorothy graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1933. On January 14, 1938, she married Ray Sessions, who preceded her in death in 1979. She was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years. After her retirement, she became active in the Telephone Pioneers of America, where for many years she planned trips and did other volunteer work for the local organization. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Connie Harbin, Edna Basham and Floy Basham and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; as well as many friends, including Carrlene Daniels and DeeAnn Palmer. She enjoyed her dogs, ceramics, gardening and cheering for her favorite teams: the Sooners, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. Dorothy wanted to express special thanks to Connie and the late Mel Harbin, Angela Cline and Pat and Jim Cook for all their care and many kindnesses. Special thanks also to the staff at The Wellington. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment following the service at Rose Hill Burial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, Dorothy asked that contributions be made to the Telephone Pioneers Perpetual Fund, 4216 N.W. 16th Terrace, Oklahoma City, OK 73107 or your favorite charity.
