

She grew up in Hydro, OK, where she finished the eighth grade, then moved to Anadarko, OK, where she graduated from Anadarko High School in 1928. After a year of business college, she moved to Oklahoma City where she worked at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as assistant to the auditor, which was the highest position that a woman could attain within the company at that time. After 10 years with the telephone company, she married Louis Loeffler, Jr., in 1939 and resided in Oklahoma City where she raised four children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Loeffler, Jr., and her son Dr. Louis Loeffler, III. She is survived by daughter Dr. Diana Loeffler of Phoenix AZ; daughter Patsy Loeffler Driskill and her husband Don of Houston TX; and son Alan Loeffler and his wife Deborah of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law Dr. Christine Loeffler of Tecumseh OK; six grandchildren, Mark Driskill, Blake Driskill, Daniel Loeffler, Luke Loeffler, Jessie Loeffler Campbell, and Katherine Loeffler; and six great grandchildren: Sari, Collin, and Sofia Driskill; Harry and Leah Loeffler; and Charlotte Campbell.
After her children were grown, she finished her Bachelor’s degree and later her Master’s degree, both from Oklahoma City University. She was active in her church, Bible Study, Gideon Auxiliary, being a scout leader, and PTA when her children were young. She loved traveling, infecting her children with the same love of travel. She lived a remarkable life of 104 years. Her parents came to Oklahoma prior to statehood and she was privileged to see all the amazing technical and medical developments during her long life. She is called “The Queen” by her family.
A memorial service for Dorris will be on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, 2424 N.W. 50th Street, Oklahoma City 73112. The service will be followed by a reception and light lunch in the fellowship hall. A private family interment will be earlier at Memorial Park Cemetery. Charitable donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church.
