Edgar “Audel” Herrera-Palos, 38, of OKC passed from this life on May 4, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 12pm at Rancho Village Baptist Church at 1411 SW 38th St in Oklahoma City with burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City. Public visitation will be held at Advantage on Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 1pm to 8pm.
Audel was born on Feb 21, 1979 in Ricon De Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico to J. Refugio Herrera and Margarita Palos. He was raised in Mexico, but came to the United States at age 19 to be closer to his family. He spent a decade working in commercial construction before transitioning into a career in welding. Audel was a talented welder and spent his last three years working with his father-in-law at Trinity Industries in OKC.
In 2007, Audel married the love of his life and longtime friend Rosario Galindo. He and Rosario raised three children together and they were inseparable. He always made his family a priority and he cherished his family cookouts and movie nights with his wife and kids. Audel was a laid back guy who always had a positive attitude and encouraging word. He taught his kids to “always stay humble and kind” and demonstrated to them the value of being unselfish by always looking for ways to help other people. He enjoyed remodeling his own home, but could always be counted on by his family when it came time for them to do remodeling on their homes.
Those who knew Audel knew that he was a man of tremendous faith in the Lord. He loved to read his Bible and discuss God’s word with his family and friends. He was a sweet and patient man who always had a big smile, but more importanly, he always went out of his way to make sure those around him had a smile and knew that they were loved. Audel’s very presence could brighten the darkest of days and he always had a joke, encouraging word or goofy dance move to share at just the right moment to bring joy to those around him.
Edgar Audel Herrera-Palos was a man who enjoyed living his life and he lived life to the fullest. He packed more memories into his short 38 yrs than most people could fit into 100 yrs. He was a dedicated husband, a protective father, a loving son, a trustworthy brother, a hardworking employee, and a trusted friend who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father J. Rufugio Herrera and his brother Leonel Herrera. He is survived by his wife and soulmate Rosario Galindo; three children: Edgar A. Herrera Jr, Brianna Marely Herrera, and Ismael Herrera; his mother Margarita Herrera-Palos; nine siblings: Gilberto Herrera, Joel Herrera, German Herrera, Dulgen Herrera, Uriel Herrera, Artemio Herrera, Miriam Herrera, Selene Herrera, and Ximena Herrera.
