Mother, Edith Verda Christian, went by Verda. She attended grade school in Phillips, Tx. while living in Fritch, Texas.
She completed school in Maud, Oklahoma where she met her future husband Fred Hook. Attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma for two years before marrying Fred Hook October 24th, 1964. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she went to work for Sun Oil Company as an Accounting Clerk and was quickly promoted to work in the Payroll department. Fred worked as a Chemist for Dow Chemical Co. while attending Law School at Tulsa University.
In 1965 Coeann and Fred assumed legal guardianship of Fred's sister Leila and brothers Lloyd and Mike who had lost their parents to cancer.
After Fred received his Jurist Doctorate from Tulsa University, Coeann, Fred and Mike moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where Coeann worked in the payroll department for the Sun Oil Refinery, Fred worked as a Patent Attorney for Halliburton and Mike finished high school. In 1974 Coeann & Fred moved to Fullerton, California where Coeann worked in the payroll department for Lear Siegler, Fred worked for Occidental Petroleum and Mike headed to college at OSU. In 1978 they moved back to Tulsa, Ok. where Coeann worked in Personnel Placement and Fred worked for Amoco Production Company. Leila and Mike lived in Tulsa and Coeann enjoyed their children. In 1992 they moved to Temple, Tx. where Fred worked for Wilsonart. In 1997 Fred accepted a position with Chevron Corporation and they moved to Yorba Linda, California, then San Ramon, California where after 11 years with Chevron Fred retired in 2008. They moved to Allen, Tx. and enjoyed 6 years of retirement and travel including a cruise stopping in historic Mediterranean sites. Other destinations were to historic sites around the United States and Canada. Travel slowed and eventually ended as Coeann's respiratory condition required her to enjoy things on a different scale. In 2014 they moved to Montereau in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and were pleasantly surprised to find neighbors and renew acquaintances from Livingston Park. Coeann's respiratory condition prevented her from fully enjoying the neighbors from Livingston Park and Montereau. October 24th, 2014 Coeann & Fred celebrated their 50th anniversary. Coeann had talked about a new wedding ring to commemorate their 50th. During the move her wedding ring was lost providing the opportunity for buying the new ring. She found an ideal ring in Tulsa but wanted to shop in Dallas before making the final decision. Her lung condition kept her from making the trip to Dallas. The 2 most important things to Coeann were Family and Friends. Coeann enjoyed a strong relationship with her Mother and Father, Grandparents, Aunt's, Uncle's and cousins. Coeann and her mother lived with her Grandparents while her Father served in World War II. Coeann was blessed with a compassionate nature and along with her mother took care of her Grandparents during their elderly years. Coeann's mother passed suddenly in 1987 and Coeann provided care and support for her father until he passed in 1995. Coeann also cared for her Aunt who had polio as a child and never married, and for her uncle who was born specially challenged. Both lived into their 80's and Coeann was there for them until they went to be with the Lord. While growing up near her Aunts and Uncles, she developed a life long closeness to her cousins who she frequently communicated with. Coeann enjoyed a special bond with Mike and Patti's son Byron, interacting with him as he grew into a young man, graduating high school then college, getting married and having two daughters. Sharing birthdays, holidays and life's important events.
Coeann and Fred had special friends dating back to high school, college, law school, law wives and the Tulsa County Bar Auxilary, where she served one year as president, places they worked and lived including Montereau. Coeann made friends easily, and was often very close to her friends children, watching them grow up and being part of their lives.
Coeann seized the opportunities created by Fred's late hours at work and heavy travel schedule to make friends, create a home and schedule that provided joy for them both. Without that support while Fred was in Law School, he could not have made it. Not knowing when he would come home from jobs Fred had post law school, Coeann still prepared the evening meal for them to enjoy and share their day. When Fred's work required him to travel, both domestically and internationally, Coeann would frequently travel with him including to countries such as England and Australia and numerous States and cities. While Fred worked Coeann explored the local culture finding places for them to eat or visit at the end of the day and return to on vacation, collecting memories and turning tough days of negotiations into a pleasant trip.
Coeann shared frequently what a wonderful life Fred provided her, not totally grasping how he could not have done it without her adapting and never ending love and support.
She impacted the lives of all she touched and the compassion Coeann showed, was returned by the calls and visits of her family and many friends. Coeann loved life and lived every day a life of good cheer.
