Ed Hale passed away on January 4, 2014 at the age of 96. He was born on January 22, 1917 in Sylvester, TX to Chester and Viola Hale and was the 9th of their 12 children. He proudly served in the 10th Armored Division of the United States Army during WWII and was transferred to Oklahoma City in 1959 by Gulf Oil, his employer of 34 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a Charter Member of Grace United Methodist Church and an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, Texas Rangers and the OKC Thunder. He is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years Marjorie of Bethany, his daughter Phyllis Marshburn of Atlanta, GA, son Chris Hale of Bethany, granddaughter Molly Bell and her husband Sean Bell of Atlanta, grandson Joey Marshburn of Atlanta and Jeff Marshburn of Charleston, SC, great grandsons Nick Bell and Joe Bell of Atlanta, GA, as well as many extended family members and friends. Family will be greeting friends Monday evening from 5-7 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Grace United Methodist Church.
