Elaine Rae Robinson was born and raised in Tulsa, graduating from Tulsa Central High School. One of the things she enjoyed was going after school to a concert hall on the way home with a girlfriend to watch Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys practice. Elaine met a young man from Vermont of all places, and the rest was history. Clearly both were smitten, as they wound up getting married. After Jerry graduated from Oklahoma State, they moved to Muskogee where Jerry got his first teaching job at Alice Robertson High School. While living in Muskogee, they had two sons, Richard and Bruce.
In about 1955 they moved to Oklahoma City. Elaine went to Central State, now UCO, graduating with an education degree. She got a job at West Nichols Hills Elementary School. The young teacher persuaded the principal to let her try something different. Instead of every teacher teaching every subject, she would teach the whole school, all grades, Spanish and phys ed. Elaine taught for about 30+ years. She loved teaching and loved the kids.
Elaine really loved and was devoted to her entire family, starting with her husband Jerry, their first cat Jackie Pumpkin, then Richard and Bruce came along, then a pet duck in the yard, then cats.
After they retired, Elaine and Jerry went on their first cruise for their 50th anniversary, and liked it enough that they went on several other cruises. They became heavily involved in the Oklahoma City Orchid Club, book clubs, social groups, went to plays and concerts. They built a greenhouse onto their house. When the greenhouse was filled up, they put orchids in the Jacuzzi, which may have been used for its original purpose once in the 35 + years they lived in the house.
Elaine found a wonderful companion and always tried to have a positive outlook. She was pretty big on optimism. Elaine and Jerry were married almost 73 years until he passed away in 2020.
She will be tremendously missed, always remembered.
Bottom line, a life well lived.
