

E. Leon Hartzell, 73-year-old resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away on July 1, 2010 in Bedford, Indiana. Born December 13, 1936, he was the son of Roy Hartzell and Evelyn Irene Krober Hartzell. Leon was good at doing many things. He loved to fix cars especially for church members; woodworking; and proved to be very adaptable at decorating for special events where catering was involved. A fifty year member of the Midwest City Free Methodist Church, he was a longtime Sunday School Teacher. Leon was also a former member of the Deaconess Hospital Board and was a member of the Free Methodist General Board of North America. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Curtis. Survivors include his wife of 50 plus years, Alice Hartzell of the home; 3 sons, Douglas and wife Karen Hartzell of Midwest City, OK; Neal and wife Lynn Hartzell of Bedford, Indiana; Stephen and wife Jeri Hartzell of Honolulu, Hawaii; 1 daughter, Nancy Sherman and husband Robert of Plymouth, WI; 1 brother, Wayne Hartzell of Burlington, Iowa; 3 sisters, Joyce Simpson of Ft. Worth, TX; Ruth Hepner of Woodward, OK; Bonnie Hartzell of Midwest City, OK; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Midwest City Free Methodist Church, 6500 E. Reno, with Reverend Denise Abston officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK, with services under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
