Elizabeth Florence (Rehfeld) McHam peacefully passed away on July 9, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. As a San Antonio native, Liz was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 15, 1933, to William Rehfeld and Gertrude Louanna (Dotson) Rehfeld.
Following her graduation from South San Antonio High School in 1951, she soon met Charles Hunter McHam in a coffee shop near the Bell House, where she lived. They were married on August 14, 1953, and moved to Midland, Texas for 5 years before returning to San Antonio. In April 1959 they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where Liz lived and worked until she retired on December 31, 2015. Liz worked in the Oil and Gas Industry, starting with Chris Well Oil Services in February 1960, and Beard Oil & John Beard Oil and Gas from July 1967 until her retirement.
Liz was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Garl Brewer, TJ Brady, Boyd Brady, Clayton Rehfeld, and sisters Olive Brady Crawey, Beth Brady Forsen, and Lynn Rehfeld Clark.
She is survived by her daughter, Kari Anne (McHam) Baser and husband Ric of San Antonio, Texas, grandsons Deric Baser of Schertz, Texas, Sean Baser and wife Megan (Steele) of Decatur, Georgia and great-granddaughter Kennedy LeeAnne Baser, San Antonio and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.
Liz loved to spend time with her family and friends, OU Sooner and then OSU Cowboys football, volunteering at her church, travel, fine dining, movies, and books. She was a longtime member of Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church and Fidelis Sunday School Class, serving on many boards and committees through the years.
The family would like to express its sincere thanks and appreciation for the loving care of “Miss Liz” given by the staff and caregivers at Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch Assisted Living and Memory Care for 6 ½ years and Suncrest Hospice during her final 3 weeks.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Castle Ridge Mortuary, 10901 W. Loop 1604 N. San Antonio, Texas with visitation from noon until 4:00pm.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
