Ellen May Henry, of Oklahoma City, peacefully passed away on February 19, 2024. Ellen was one of two daughters born to parents Cornelius Henry and Isabella (Grant) Henry in May Pen, Jamaica. Ellen was born on January 26, 1935.
After finishing Primary School, Ellen went on to move all over Jamaica in cities like Clarendon and Kingston, the Cayman Island and finally settling down in Oklahoma City, in 1991.
Ellen loved to be with her family and friends. She loved to be in the moment and just sit and talk with them or share a good joke. She enjoyed listening music of all kinds, from gospel to country, she loved it all. Ellen loved to sing while she worked.
Ellen was a very hard worker, and she taught her kids from a young age to work hard for what you want to achieve in life.
She was preceded in death by her son Courtney Herlock, sister Ethel Murcheson, grandson Itamar Reece and parents Cornelius and Isabella Henry.
Ellen’s love and memories will live on through her children Fitzroy Scott of Oklahoma City, Claudette Herlock of Oklahoma City, Fay Herlock of Kingston Jamaica, Horace Herlock, and Francis Tenn and wife Michelle of Oklahoma City; 9 grandchildren: Nadra Scott, Fitzroy Scott Jr., Simone Hall, Damian Office, Missheika Losley, Jevoy Watson, Comeka Herlock, Mickala Tenn, Frankie Cervantes – Tenn; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home followed by interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
