

Emmett R. Steeds was born Aug. 31, 1917 and died June 10, 2011 after a brief illness. Emmett was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City after a distinguished career in the United States Army. Emmett served his country in Europe earning many distinctions for service including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After WWII he again served his country in Korea. Emmett was proud of his military career and stayed close to the service by serving in later years as a docent of the 45th Infantry Museum. After his military career he was a postal carrier for many years continuing his service until his retirement.
Emmett lost his beloved wife Mary in 1999 after a marriage of 60 years. He is survived by son Ralph of North Carolina, daughter Pat & her husband David of Ottawa, KS, and one grandson, Chris South & wife Jennifer of Choctaw, Okla.; great-grandchildren Landon, Sierra, & Ehren South; and Savannah Stuber.
Services for Emmett are 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Resurrection Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
