Ennis Riley CORN
March 18, 1928 – January 7, 2020
Ennis Riley Corn, 91, of OKC passed from this life following a brief illness on Jan. 7, 2020. Ennis was born on March 18, 1928 in Elk City, OK to William Judson and Ruby Ida (Brown) Corn. He was raised in OKC and graduated from Capitol Hill High School where he earned the nickname “Sport.” Ennis took extra classes at CHHS in order to finish school early so that he could join the Army to serve his country during WWII. During his time in the infantry he was stationed in California where he married the love of his life, Margie Ellenburg. They had two children: Gary and Pam.
Ennis began a career as a grocer and worked his way up to a District Manager position with Humpty Dumpty. He later purchased Paul’s Wholesale Meat on Exchange Ave in OKC and enjoyed being a business owner until his retirement in 1990.
Ennis was a generous and selfless man who loved watching Dallas Cowboy football and all things sports. Oftentimes he would watch two tv’s and would be listening to his radio to keep up with his favorite teams. Ennis collected pigs and had a profound love for his dog “Jack.” Later in his life Ennis earned the name “Pop Corn,” after his father “Pop” passed away at age 93. He was a longtime member of the Seratoma Club and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Pop Corn will be remembered for his kindness, understanding, and the unconditional love he provided his family and friends. Ennis was a loving father, a caring brother, a fair and consistent employer, and a trusted friend who will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margie Corn; his daughter Pam; a sister Mary Lee Salsbury. He is survived by his son Gary Corn of Del City; a sister Re Jackson and husband Ed, and his beloved dog Jack.
