

Flora Jane Adams was born on September 30, 1921 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Audrey and Hazel (Roseboom) Teeter. Flora passed away on March 1, 2011 in Oklahoma City. She attended the University of Oklahoma as a business major. When her father, a pharmacist and postmaster in Grandfield, Oklahoma was diagnosed with cancer, she withdrew from college and went home to assist with his care and worked in the US Post Office. After his death, she and her mother moved to Lawton where she continued to work at the US Postal Service. She married Truel E. Adams, her college boyfriend, in 1945. When daughter’s Jane and Trudy were born, she quit to become a stay at home mother. She returned to work in 1968 as the personal assistant to the Oklahoma County Assessor until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Flora was a champion for deaf education and was instrumental in getting deaf classes instituted in the Oklahoma City Public School System.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Truel E. Adams and daughter, Trudy Jo Hill. She is survived by her daughter Jane Bowers, of Edmond; Granddaughters, Robin Jo Hill Vinson of Oklahoma City; Blaire Allyn Bowers of Denver, Colorado; and Lauren Elaine Bowers of Edmond.
