November 24, 1937 – July 21, 2020
Floyd Eugene Henson, age 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Floyd was born November 24, 1937 in Okemah, Oklahoma. A memorial service for Floyd will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bethesda Church, 3101 SW 89th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73159.
Floyd Eugene Henson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born in Okemah, OK to Lloyd "Earnest" and Floy Inez Henson on November 24, 1937. After proposing on the second date, Gene was married to Mary Josephine Baldwin, January 25, 1957. They enjoyed 59 years of marital bliss until January 1, 2016 when she passed away. To this union, six children were born and later two adopted daughters joined the family. In 2018, Gene met Christene Allen, at Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy store on south May and surprised both of them by asking her to dinner. This courtship lasted 10 months and they married on June 8, 2019, joining two families adding two more children. Gene graduated from Lawton High School and started working for Dolese at the age of 17 on July 5, 1957. He retired after 45 years as the General Superintendent over the rock quarries in the state of Oklahoma--the third man down from Mr. Roger Dolese, himself, WITHOUT an engineering degree. Throughout his life he enjoyed softball, golfing, fishing, traveling--went to every state except two, Alaska and Rhode Island, gardening, "taking a break" with his neighbor, Rick Drury, DIY projects, going to auctions, good food, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. These past couple of years, he began to attend services at Bethesda Church with Christene, and developed his relationship with Jesus. He enjoyed the "good talks" and grew to love his church family. He was a very kind, loving and generous man. A "little" stubborn, very ornery and persistent but would give it all away. He is survived by his wife, Mary Christene; eight children, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Lightfoot and husband, Darrell; Carolyn Yvonne Henson; Rickey Earnest Henson; Ronald Eugene Henson and wife, Melinda Ann; Nicole Yvette Quadhamer; Natali Lyn Ioerger; Teresa Renae Elmore, Terry Gene Allen and wife, Samalee; 20 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandson. Two brothers and one sister: Benny Earnest Henson and wife, Mary Irene; Patsy June Hargrove; Gary Dale Henson and wife, Sharon and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Earnest and Floy Inez Henson; two children, Gary Scott and Charlotte Diana; four brothers, Joe Wayne, Roger Meirl, Lonnie Dan, and Ronnie Van.

July 27, 2020
Gene was a kind yet ornery man. He was always willing to help me out when I began at Dolese. The memory I will always remember is one where Gene encouraged Auditing to play a practical joke on an employee at Richards Spur. An employee was retiring and was expecting a call from Social Security about his benefit. Gene told us to tell the employee we were with SS and we needed to talk with him about his benefit. Gene told us to tell him his ex-wife had received credit for his SS deductions, and we may need to take his pick up until this was all settled. Gene was in the office when we discussed it with the employee. Gene began to chuckle as he saw the employee begin to feel that he may not get to retire, his ex-wife took advantage of him, and his old pick up may be gone. We let the employee in on the joke, and he had a few choice words for Gene.
Gene would always reply when you asked him how he was doing, "I'm tired and wore out". Gene, you have finished the race! Your new body will never be tired and wore out.
