Frances Jo Toney

Always working hard to care for her family, Jo was a wonderful cook, maintained a clean house, and created a loving home. She was quick to share her sweet smile and had a beautiful, quiet laugh. She was a wonderful listener and often gave her gentle but sometimes firm advice. Her family learned when she considered something a bad idea, it was really a bad idea.

Jo had many hobbies and was very talented. In addition to being a master cook, she was an excellent seamstress and often made her own and her children’s clothing, along with decorative crafts. Jo would also patiently teach her skills to anyone interested. She spent time outdoors enjoying fishing and camping. She loved to travel, flying to places like Japan and Hawaii and traveled many miles on road trips with her family to see much of the United States, favoring South Dakota and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Jo is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leon Toney; her brother Adrian Gillaspie and wife, Gloria of Burleson Texas; her children Elaine Spencer of Pink, Oklahoma, Sammy Whitaker and wife Pam of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Randy Toney and wife Candy of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Tammy Kieffer and husband Cliff of Pink, Oklahoma, Edie Visnieski and husband Mike of Hydro, Oklahoma, Shane Whitaker and wife Jill of Piedmont, Oklahoma and Scott Whitaker and wife Amanda of Edmond, Oklahoma , Brian Flippo and wife Renette of San Francisco, California, Jonathan Flippo of Del City, Oklahoma and Tabby Toney Douglass and husband Kelly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In addition, Jo had eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded by her father, mother, brother Edwin, and daughter Karon Flippo.

Please join us in celebrating her life at a graveside service on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at 2 pm at the Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 North Midwest Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73141. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 2 to 8 pm, at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73141.
