Frank W. Marshall was born on April 27, 1919, to Paul and Muriel Marshall, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Austin High School. He lost his father and two brothers as a teenager and worked as a janitor in his high school to help his mother and sister during the depression. He dated Billie Gillespie during high school and they married on August 20, 1939. Frank joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, taking part in the invasions in Africa, Sicily, and Nice, France, during World War II. After four years in the U.S. Navy, Frank worked for El Paso Electric Company. Their son, Wayne Allen Marshall was born on May 29, 1947, followed by daughter Patricia A. Marshall on July 9, 1949. They moved to Oklahoma City where he worked with General Tire Company, Prudential Life Insurance Company, and as Manager of Continental Assurance Company. Frank joined Snelling and Snelling Personnel as an employment counselor, winning a franchise after one year which relocated them to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also owned the Carriage House Restaurant and a dry cleaning business in Oklahoma City, which his son managed for the three years he owned it. Frank achieved 32nd Degree Mason, became a Shriner, and was an active member for many years. After retiring from Snelling Personnel, he drove school buses and medical transports for the disabled in Tulsa, and discovered his love of hand tooled leather crafting. He was a perfectionist in all he did. Frank lost his beloved son, Wayne, in 2003 with a massive coronary. He and Billie were members of Wesley Methodist Church, Village Methodist Church, and in Tulsa, 35 year members of Asbury United Methodist Church. Dad loved the Lord and church with a passion, never ceasing in his service. In his last years, it pained his heart greatly to not be in attendance on Sunday mornings.
Frank was preceded in death by his brothers Paul Marshall and Bob Marshall, his sister Sally O’Hara, and his son, Wayne Allen Marshall.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Billie G. Marshall; his daughter Patricia Reeves and husband Buddy of Oklahoma City, his daughter-in-law, Bertha Marshall of San Antonio; his five grandchildren, Jennifer Woodward and husband Tate of Whitefish, Montana, Master Sergeant, USMC, Jason Marshall Vick and wife Janine, of San Diego, California, Chris Marshall and wife Andrea of Houston, Lisa Houston and husband Tad of Forestville, California, and Kerry Marshall of Atlanta, Georgia.
