Frederick Harris Burckel, 80, passed away on December 20, 2010. Fred was born May 28, 1930 in White Plains, New York to Geroge J. and Florence M. (Beers) Burckel. Fred was very proud of his service in the United States Air Force and Marine Corps. In his later years, Fred volunteered many hours at the VA hospitals in Oklahoma and Arizona. He enjoyed bowling, and working puzzle’s as he was known as the “Puzzle Man.”
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Ann Burckel; siblings, Robert, George and Marilyn Burckel. Survivors include his children, Wesley, Mark and Michael Burckel, and Christina Schiebert and husband Joe.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
