

IN to Percy and Dorathea Smith on Nov. 1, 1930. Surviving are his wife, Margaret
Aileen, daughter, Christina Kain, grandson, Blake Allen, granddaughter, Audrey Allen,
and great-grandson, Jadon Allen. He is also survived by his "adopted" daughter, Minh
Chau Thai Viering, and husband, Tom, along with two "adopted" grandsons,
Christopher and Johnathon. Other survivors are his sister, Carolyn Alexander, and
husband, Byron. along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He honorably
served in the U. S. Navy on the U. S. Waldron from 1951 to 1954. Gary graduated from
New Mexico State University in 1960 as a Mechanical Engineer. His career spanned 40
years of employment at Tinker AFB, having worked on modification of Special EC-135,
AF One, as well as having served on the Cruise Missile Team for several years. After that
retirement he was employed with Dignity Funeral Homes for five years. Some of the
athletics in which he enjoyed participating were football, golf, bowling, and softball. He
was a Christian and long-time member of the Assemblies of God Church, where he
gladly served as usher for many years. The family wishes to express gratitude and
appreciation to the staff of Integris Hospice House, along with a very special thanks to
their social worker, Ms. Ashley Kliewer, MSW. Funeral services will be 2 p.m, Friday,
September 20, 2013, at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel with burial following at
Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Avenue.
