

Lynn Gaylan Adams, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, June 26, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK, with the love of his life, Harriet, by his side. He was born on January 26, 1942, in Frederick, OK, to David Dewitt and Covia Anderson Adams.
Gaylan grew up on a farm in Tillman County, OK. After graduating from high school, he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He then attended two years of law school (Oklahoma City and Tulsa), cutting his attendance short when he enlisted in the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged after years of service. It was then Gaylan began his storied and respected career as a Petroleum Landman, which he did until his death, working in Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado. He was well regarded by peers and clients for being a fair and objective dealmaker.
Later In life, Gaylan became an avid golfer, and a good one at that. For over thirty years he treasured his annual North South games at Pine Valley Golf Club in Clemonton, NJ. Gaylan was also a charter member of Rose Creek Country Club where only weeks ago he carded his seventh hole-in-one.
On May 23, 2026, he and Harriet celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Their favorite place to be was home, which over the years was filled with many dogs and cats. The most recent pets are a white lab named Angelo and a cat named Cassie, whom he affectionately called “Missy.” Gaylan also had a passion for arranging and taking care of his many outdoor plants. He left this world with no regrets, having lived a life rich in faith, friendships, and joy. Gaylan was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 40 years, during which time he served in every level of church leadership.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; nephew Michial Adams and his wife Toni, of OKC; nephew Bill Adams and his wife, Judy; niece Karen Adams; and sister-in-law Betty Adams, all of Katy, TX; as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Olan T. Adams. Throughout their lives, Gaylan and Harriet have been blessed with many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home at 6600 Broadway Extension on Wednesday, July 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City on July 2 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John McKinnon officiating. There will be a reception at First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City immediately following the funeral service. Burial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N. Kelly Ave., OKC.
