These are the things I know about Slick:  He loved apple pie, he always wore red sox, he smiled most of the time and he helped Freda raise two of the finest daughters around,  Pam and Patti are both compassionate and empathetic.  And they loved their Daddy to the fullness of their hearts.  I know he felt beloved  above all.

Ill always remember helping Slick pick pecans as a child. The last time my mother Peggy and I visited he got to meet my son. Rest in peace my friend. Your smile and warm heart are missed dearly but your spirit lives on in our hearts. 

On February 23rd 2016 I met Gpa Slick for the first time he hugged me immediately and told Kevin “Son she is wearing a sundress just like in my dream, remember I told you about my dream?” I wasn’t sure what he was talking about but Kevin did. A few months later Gpa told me that he had a dream and I was in it tho we hadn’t met yet. He told me that I was the one for Kevin because his dream told him so. I loved listening to all his stories especially about his sweetie pie, he would always say Freda would’ve loved you too because I was a lot like her , not one to put up with crap, I felt like I knew her thru him . Often he would tell me “Tonya I had that dream about sweetie pie again , it was so real but than she went away again” . I have been cutting his hair for the last few years and was so happy to do it, I was actually the one and only to shave his face , and all for 6 bits. We had great conversations when I would bring him grandys or banana pudding during the week on my field days, sometimes a short visit but I cherish them all. He was the best man at our wedding and as he signed our marriage license he smiled and said “you are to him what mine was and still is to me” love unconditionally and cherish every moment! He confided in me and I in him and I made a promise to him that is tucked away in my heart ❤️ I will miss him , we all will but I am so happy because I know that he is with his love and he has been patiently waiting to see her again, Thank you Gpa for everything, the stories, memories and most of all thank you for your grandson , he is to me what you always were to your wife . I’ll think of you always especially when I wear the sundress…. See you in heaven, You are the greatest man I’ve ever known and you have set the bar so high ! Love ya lots❤️

Man this hit me really hard when I found out the Devastating news, I seen slick about a month ago and he whipped my husband in bowling ( the wii ) Boy did he love his wii, and the bowling! He was such a great player and loved every minute of it. Every time I went over to visit him he was so happy about this one picture and that was with him and the cheerleaders. He was so proud of it , The way his face lit up, And all the joy that he had that picture brought to him, was worth a wild of lifetimes!When I was little I used to live next-door to slick and Freda what a great couple they were, I considered them like my very own grandparents. One day, when I was little I would go over to his house and I’d help him pick the shells off of the pecans That he had a big Brahms bag filled of. I would also Go and sit on the porch swing and talk to Freda and slick for hours on end. They were such a power couple. Slick, would air up my bike tires that seem to of went flat every day LOL but he didn’t care that he had to do it he was just happy that he helped. And he will be missed every single day. But I knew how much he missed his beloved wife Freda. He is flying high with her and the reunited once again but no worries in the world. Slick, thank you for being part of my life. I hope you rest in peace old friend!!

My ex husband and I lived many years next door to Slick and Freda my kids loved them both they both helped us and  my kids a lot whatever we needed they was there. I remember Slick would help all the children that needed help with airing up bike tires or just sitting on his porch swing with me just shooting the bull      (RIP) Slick and Freda you both are missed so much

I remember uncle Sluck coming to see my G’dad his brother Pink, he was always joking an having a good time , taking about who was the youngest an who was the oldest, I am so sorry for your loss, y’all are in my prayers 🙏🏻❤️

I remember when the Perkins moved into the neighborhood when I was only 8 or 9 years old. Two girls one just a year younger than me.  I remember dances in their garage (we were not suppose to see)!  I also remember when my own sons grew into Scouting and Slick was there to help with the troop. Great times playing cards and dominoes on Saturday night!!  Too many memories for this small space 😭.  Rest In Peace. You are with your sweetie now.  Sadness for those of us left behind. We’ll see you soon in heaven.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dad.  I didn't have a chance to get to know him, but have heard so many stories of his humor and spirit.  You are all in my prayers at this difficult time.  But just know he is in Heaven with all the rest of the Perkins clan and they are all having a good time telling stories and getting to know each other again.
