George Paul Michael Sr.

George Paul Michael, Sr. died in Oklahoma City, February 4th, 2014. He was born June 20th, 1934 in Norman, Oklahoma to Gene and Avo Beda Michael. He attended Norman High School and after graduation served his country in the 11th Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged in 1955. George graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1959 with a BS in Business. He was employed by General Mills as National Product Sales Manager for a number of years before founding and operating The Metro Oil Company and The Sunbelt Petroleum Company in Oklahoma City. George enjoyed a lengthy retirement that included golf, traveling and spending time with family. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Norman. George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Jones Michael, his daughter Stephanie Michael Watts, daughter Susan Michael Lathrop, son George Paul Michael, Jr., brother in law Jimmy R. B. Jones and son in law Anthony Philip Lathrop. He was preceded in death by his sister Avo Jean Michael. The family would like to thank the staffs of Crossroads Hospice and Prairie Winds Alzheimer's Special Care Center for the love and grace they showed George and the pleasant support they provided his loved ones. A Graveside Service conducted by Reverend Catherine Bennett, will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception at Hahn-Cook Street & Draper.
