George "Bill" William Sanders

George William "Bill" Sanders, 96, of Midwest City, OK, peacefully passed away on March 30, 2022. George was born on March 23, 1926 to Carl Lee Sanders and Thelma Stark (Barnes) in Guthrie, OK. George enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Pearl Harbor, HI during World War II. After he served in the military he worked as a wholesale florist. George married Wanda Fay Morgan on January 7, 1950 in Oklahoma City, OK. George retired in 1988 after 40+ years. While retired, George and Wanda traveled all over the United States in their RV, camped with loved ones, and spent time surrounded by family. George was a member of the Cherokee OKC Indian Club and the OKC Powwow Association. He received an Honorary High School diploma in 2016 from Bethel High School in Bethel Acres, OK. He greeted every person who crossed his path, always had a smile on his face, and lived every moment of the day.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Lee Sanders and Thelma Stark (Barnes); his sweetheart, Wanda Fay Sanders (Morgan); sisters, Truceal and Annabelle; brother, C.L.; daughter, Sandra Anderson; son, G.W. "Billy" Sanders Jr.; grandson, Michael Nichols; granddaughter, Christina Koehn (Sanders); great-granddaughter, Rylie; and son-in-law, James Harris.

He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" Sanders and wife Carolyn; daughter, Sharon Romee and husband Jammie; daughter, Kathy Harris; grandchildren, Sheryl (husband Wayne), Johnny (wife Shannon), G.W. "Billy" III (wife Christy), Melissa, Jennifer, Shane, Russell, Sheena (husband Bobby), Wesley, and Lahree; 28 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Bill will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2022 at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 North Midwest Blvd, Midwest City, OK 73141.
