

Gerald L. Breeding, age 80, passed away on 30April 2015. Gerald was born September 8, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the only child of Glenn and Irene Breeding. Gerald attended high school at Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Oklahoma and graduated from Junior College at OMA in 1955 as a distinguished military student. In 1957 Gerald graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Law. He also graduated as a distinguished military graduate receiving a Regular Army commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army.
Gerald was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1957 to 1959 and at Fort Eustis, Virginia from 1959 to 1960. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal prior to receiving an honorable discharge in 1960 and returning to Oklahoma City and civilian life. Upon being discharged from active duty, he became a member of the Oklahoma National Guard’s 45th Infantry Division from 1960 to 1966 before voluntarily returning to active duty in 1966. Gerald served his country in Saigon, Viet Nam from 1967 to 1968 returning to Oklahoma City upon being honorably discharged with the rank of Major.
Gerald became active as a commercial real estate developer, real estate broker and property manager of various real estate properties in Oklahoma City from 1968 to 1984 and in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1984 to 1991. He obtained the real estate professional designation of a Certified Commercial Investment Member in 1985 and served as the president of the CCIM Chapter for the state of Arkansas during 1987 and 1988. Gerald was a commercial real estate appraiser in Fort Myers, Florida from 1991 to 2000 before returning to Oklahoma City where he served as owner and chief executive officer for the Glenn E. Breeding Company, a distinguished commercial real estate business in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
His diverse background in commercial real estate included property management, real estate development, financial advising, commercial appraisal and various other areas of consulting. Gerald was a 32nd degree Mason, a past member of the India Shrine Temple of Oklahoma City and the Rotary Club of Midwest City. He was a recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award from Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Association. Gerald also served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Association since 2008.
His parents preceded Gerald in death. He is survived by his children, which include Lee Ann and her husband, Alan Atkins of Edmond, Oklahoma, Elizabeth and her husband Mark Royse of Dallas, Texas and a son Jeffrey Breeding of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Nathan and Meredith Atkins, Noah Royse, Jeffrey and Nicholas Breeding.
Memorial services will be held at Crossings Community Church Chapel at 14600 N. Portland Avenue in Oklahoma City on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 1pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Rogers State University Foundation for the Oklahoma Military Academy Museum. A celebration following the memorial services will be held at Crossings Church.
