Glenn J. Franklin

Glenn James Franklin, 55, born March 12, 1957 at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia died October 16th, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK. In his passing to the other side our beloved son left his earthly journey and joined his Heavenly Father for that great motorcycle ride with his buddy “Sport”. Glenn was a very spiritual man, a kind person, gentle man of great generosity. He was a loyal friend to many and loved by all who knew him. No one ever spoke an unkind word about Glenn. He was a friend of Bill W. and has inspired many. He was a graduate of Putnam City High School and briefly attended the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from broadcasting school but never followed that career path. Glenn got his first motorcycle at age 14 which led him later to work for Maxey’s Motorcycle’s in Oklahoma City. He toured as a chief mechanic for the late Mike Harth with Team Hammer Motorcycle Endurance Team and also for Team Honda out of Torrance, California. While on the Team Honda he toured the U.S. and worked with the Honda engineers in Tokyo and was published in major racing magazines for his motorcycle expertise. Glenn returned to Oklahoma City and began his own automobile and motorcycle repair business until he was forced to retire because of illness. One of his greatest loves was bluegrass music. He was one of the founding workers 16 years ago of the International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie. He played both the guitar and the mandolin. Glenn is survived by his parents Jim and Charlotte Franklin of Oklahoma City, sister Pamela Baxter of Batesville, Arkansas, sister Christine Franklin of Dallas, Texas, niece Katherine Baxter of St. Louis, Missouri, Uncles Gene Collier of Crocker, Missouri, John Collier of Phoenix, Arizona, and Allen Collier of Pacific, Missouri. He was preceded in death by fraternal grandparents H. Roy and Marie Franklin, and maternal grandparents John and Margaret Collier and uncle Daniel Collier.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 20th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Church of the Savior 5600 NW 63rd Oklahoma City.
