Penn in OKC with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Glenn was born on March 1, 1932 in Baxter Springs, KS, to Charles and Vearl (Byler) Kirkpatrick. He was raised in SE Kansas, graduating from Riverton High School. Soon after he met Miriam Vee Harmon in nearby Baxter Springs, KS and in 1951 they married and went on to have four wonderful sons together. In 1952, the family relocated to Oklahoma where Glenn began working in construction with his uncle Clifton Byler. A short time later, he accepted a position with Smiser Construction where he spent over two decades building and renovating large residential and commercial projects. He was the job supervisor on many projects including the construction of the Macklanburg-Duncan facility, the Murrah Federal Building, the Howard Johnson Hotel on Lincoln, and the McAlester Hospital.
In 1974, Glenn opened Kirkpatrick Construction doing residential and commercial remodel projects throughout the metro area. He did countless residential remodels in Nichols Hills and proudly played a part of the Downtown OKC renaissance by remodeling and reviving numerous older apartment buildings in several of the now trendy downtown districts. One facet of the business that Glenn loved was the ability to work with his boys on many of the projects.
After working several decades making Kirkpatrick Construction successful, Glenn was able to retire in the early 2000’s. He was able to pursue several hobbies to take up his free time. He enjoyed photography, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. One of his favorite activities was the renovation of his backyard, which he was able to turn into his own little piece of heaven with a pool he designed and built, as well as an area where he could spend time watching the many species of birds attracted by his various landscaping projects. Glenn also enjoyed making broken tile mosaics and he had several of his creations displayed on his walls.
Glenn Kirkpatrick was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed life. He was a caring father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend who’ll truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lorene Bramlett, Carolyn Goff, Janice Ann Kirkpatrick, and two infant sisters Marion and June Kirkpatrick; and a brother Gene Edwin Kirkpatrick.
