Hanh Le Tu

Hanh was born on March 5, 1933 at Ben Tre, South Vietnam. She was the second child of Le Van Thi and Lu Thi Bau. She attended the University of Saigon and became a certified pharmacist in 1961. She then opened a pharmacy in Saigon where she was able to help many people.

She married Tu Van Be. The couple would have 4 children, Duc, Quang, Chanh, and Thao. Then came the greatest heartache of all. South Vietnam was lost in the war. She had to make the difficult decision to abandon her country and flee to the United States. She did this, mostly for the sake of her young children - so that they would have a better future.

She left with scarcely pocket change and the clothes on her back, along with her mother, towing 4 children from the ages of 5 to 13. Her foreign pharmacy degree nullified, she had to go back to Pharmacy School at the University of Oklahoma, where she matriculated in 1982.

She sacrificed much so that we would have better futures. She will be missed by her children, Duc Minh Tu (Thuy), Quang Minh Tu (Bao Lien), Chanh Minh Tu (Kimberly), and Thao Ngoc Tu (Scott). She also leaves loving grandchildren, including Philip Tu, Ava Tu, Alexander Tu, Nicholas Tu, Zachary Tu, Alexis Mobley, Alyssa Bryan, Maggie Tu-Wood, Taryn Tu, Emma Tu, and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Tu Van Be, her beloved parents, Le Van Thi and Lu Thi Bau, and her adored brother Le Ky Van.
