

Harry J “Hank” Schafer III was born January 10, 1955 and died peacefully surrounded by his family, February 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry J “Corky” Jr. and Liz Schafer, his grandparents, Harry J Sr. & Billie Schafer, W.D. “Dick” & Mary Beth Grisso and his sister, Madeline Schafer Baldwin. He is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Klara, his children, Emily (Adam) Buersmeyer, Sarah (Jeff) Thompson, Robert Schafer; his grandchildren, Ellie, Olivia and Avery Buersmeyer, Nolan, Pierce and Norah Thompson , and Henry and Wyatt Schafer; plus brother, Dixon (Denna) Schafer, sister, Suzanna (David) Dean. Included also are Tanya Sanderson, daughters Allie & Chloe Sanderson, and Gary Gleason and son, Jordan Gleason; nieces and nephews, Tommy (Shannon) Baldwin, Elizabeth (Josh) Atkinson, Jeremy (Kelsey) Baldwin and Tatum Schafer; grand-nieces and nephews MacKenzie, Bentley & Madison Baldwin, Jack, Knox and Madeline Atkinson & Ari Baldwin. Hank also has many cousins all over the country that he loved dearly - he loved all of his family. Hank attended Nichols Hills Elementary, Eisenhower Junior High, Culver Military Academy, and graduated from Heritage Hall in 1973. He went on to Western State College in Colorado and the College of Santa Fe before graduating from Oklahoma State University. While he did graduate from OSU, his commitment was to the University of Oklahoma! A Sooner Born, Sooner Bred, he was devoted to his Sooners. One of Hank’s favorite seasons of life was his time living in Santa Fe, and he traveled back countless times over the years. Hank was proud of his sobriety of 20 years and went on to mentor many people. Hank was dedicated to serving God, his country, his family and community. He found great joy in the relationships he built in business, through AA, and all the places in between. In addition to being an accountant by trade, he was a Royalty Management Expert, and truly loved helping all his clients! He leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, stories and love in everything he did. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Bill W., The Western Club, AA, or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at All Souls’ Episcopal Church, 6400 N Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City at 1:00 pm.
