

Helen Wixom , 96, passed from this life on July 19, 2026, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her family. She was born March 17, 1930 in Summerfield, Oklahoma to William Austin and Ella Gilmore. She grew up and attended school in Albion, Oklahoma, where she lived on a cattle farm and grew crops. She learned the importance of hard work and self-sustainability in farming. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1948.
She met her husband, David Charles Wixom, and they married in 1948. They were married for 50 years and were blessed with three children: William (Billy) David, Lavonna, and Charla.
Helen was a life-long Baptist, who loved God and attending church. She loved gardening and enjoyed brining in fresh vegetables to have with dinner. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and decorating. She will be remembered for her love of antiques and anything animal print. She always stayed busy and attended Tai-Chi classes at her local YMCA well into her 80s, as well as other swimming and exercise classes. We were very proud of her willingness to try new things.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Buddy Gilmore, Jimmy Gilmore, Beatrice Hokit, and Norma Ferria; her husband David Charles; her granddaughter Brooke Siddles and great-granddaughter Shasta Wixom.
She is survived by her children William David and wife Bonnie, Lavonna and husband Mark Edwards, and Charla and husband Jerry Stiger; Grandchildren Lisa Hamblin, Shelli Wixom, Jessica Youngblood, Aaron Edwards, Rebecca Peabody, Rachel Edwards, and Shawn Stiger, along with 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held July 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at Advantage Funeral Home, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. with interment immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery. The viewing will be from 4:00- 7:00 on July 23, 2026.
