

Helen W. Wood was born on September 24, 1924, in Spaulding, Oklahoma to William and Sibyl Walden. She passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at her home. Helen attended and graduated from Holdenville High School. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City to attend Draughon’s Business School during World War II. After the war, Helen worked at Robertson-Steel Company where she met her future husband, Marvin F. Wood, Jr. and they married in October, 1948.
Helen’s love was serving at her church home, The First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. She has served in many capacities including Elder, Deacon, Director of Christian Education, Presbyterian Women President, and Phoebe Circle.
Helen served her family while working outside the home and retired in 1988 from Oklahoma Natural Gas.
Helen was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Sibyl Walden, and her husband of 39 years, Marvin. She is survived Melissa McLea and her husband, Mike; Melinda Lukehart; Melanie Davidson and her husband Gerald; and Michael Wood; seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
The family has designated The First Presbyterian Church of OKC for memorial contributions in memory of Helen Wood.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Oklahoma City.
