Helia Irene Murphy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 13, 2011. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Helia was born in Duluth, Minnesota on October 14, 1923. She graduated from Embarrass High school then obtained an associate degree from Duluth Secretarial College. After graduating she moved to California to support the war efforts during World War II by working in a rubber factory. Helia moved back to Duluth and worked for many years at the corporate offices of JC Penney and Montgomery Wards. That is when Helia met the love of her life John. They married on July 2, 1955 and shared 54 wonderful years together. They moved to Oklahoma City in the early 60's and adopted Patrick on May 27, 1964. After adopting Patrick, Helia decided to stay at home and enjoyed raising her son. Helia and John were charter members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Helia enjoyed being involved with her church, visiting with her family, friends, listening to her books on tape, and listening to sports on the radio. Her favorite college team was of course, her Oklahoma State Cowboys. She loved to make cookies and Pizza for Pat. When Baleigh and Bella were old enough, Helia loved to do the same for them. Helia was preceded in death by her parents Henry Victor and Anna Knuti Hiltunen, four brothers, five sisters, and her beloved John. She is survived by her sister's Edna and Margaret, son Patrick, daughter-in-law Anna, and her two beautiful granddaughters Baleigh and Bella. God gave Helia a precious gift this year for Valentine's Day, that of eternal life to share with her beloved John. Helia you will be greatly missed and always be in our hearts. We know that you and John are watching over us. This is not goodbye because we will see you again....
