

Herbert Leon Collins, 100, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012. He was born on October 22, 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri, to John and Mabel Collins. Herb was a retired pharmaceutical representative for Merck, an avid bowler, an enthusiastic member of the Oklahoma City Exchange club, a former volunteer at Deaconess Hospital and a devoted member of Crown Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and taught a Sunday School class for many years. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 72 years, whom he adored ; his daughters Linda Baker (Joe) of Jeffersonville, IN and Christy Bishop (Gary) of Grove, OK; grandchildren Jessica Baker O’Brien (Tom) of Clarksville, TN, Zac Bishop (Nicole) and Jeremy Bishop of OKC ; and his cherished great-grandson Ethan O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Alma Yackle and Melva Morris, his brother Earl Collins, and his granddaughter Angela Bishop. Herb was a gentle spirit who was loved and respected by all who knew him. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday, March 4, from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel on Monday, March 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
