

Herman Everett Wood died January 2, 2014 at his home on Lake Texoma. He was the first son born to Ezra & Betty Wood on July 26, 1940 in Arkansas City, KS. At a young age, they moved to Danville, AR and later returned to Ark City, where he graduated High School in 1958. He then joined the U.S. Navy and completed a tour of duty. In 1960, he married Susan Ormiston in Ark City, and together they had six children: Kelley, David, Mitchell, Leslye (Kacky), Michael and Andy. They moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked for various construction companies before forming H.E. Wood Construction. He married Sandra Fleharty of OKC in 1980. Herman was an avid sports fan, but playing and watching golf was his favorite. He is survived by four children: Kelley Lockridge of Richardson, TX, David Wood of OKC, Leslye (Kacky) Skondovitch of Anchorage, AK and Andy Wood of OKC; siblings, Carol Maddy of Wichita, KS, Cheryl Steiner of Meeker, CO, Kenneth Wood of Los Angeles, CA and Connie Barnett of Moore, OK; and eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Herman was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie & Doni Wood; maternal grandmother, Nancy Kinsey; parents, Ezra Wood & Betty Wood Vandever; and two sons, Michael E. Wood and Herman Mitchell Wood. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Jan 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Guardian West Funeral Chapel.
