

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife Janice of Yukon, Oklahoma, his step-daughters Christina Cable and husband Anthony of Cashion, Oklahoma and Julianna Sacket and husband Brian of Piedmont, Oklahoma; sisters Patricia Stewart and Lucy Jones and husband Butch; niece Paula Jones of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by parents, Hubert Gerald Carter and Dorothy Sipes Carter, of Prescott, Arkansas and his beloved poodle Mitzi Renee Carter.
Buddy was born on August 19, 1946 in Prescott, Arkansas to Hubert and Dorothy Carter. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1964, then served as a Sargent in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He then attended and graduated Henderson State College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 1973. After College, Buddy was a dispatcher for the Prescott Police Department. In May of 1980 he began working for the City of Prescott as the Waste Water Plant Operator where he served for 35 years, retiring in May of this year.
He married Janice Kay Bruno in June of 1994 and became step-father to Christina and Julianna from a previous marriage. In July of 2015, Buddy and Janice became residents of Yukon, Oklahoma to enjoy retirement near their family.
Buddy was a social, active man who was deeply involved in working within the Church of Christ in Prescott, Arkansas for the majority of his life. He and Janice recently became members of the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK. He enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid Baseball Card collector. Family and friends will always remember him as a great Little League coach, a wonderful Sunday school teacher, and a God-fearing, gentle man.
A funeral is scheduled on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ, Brother Jim Mitchell will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Buddy’s life. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of AllianceHealth Deaconess for their wonderful, compassionate care, as well as everyone who helped him and his family during his final days on this Earth.
