Ina Mae “Tiny” Miller Faldo was born on July 26, 1926 in Yale, Oklahoma to Tom and Blanche Chesher. She attended Capital Hill High School and graduated in the class of 1944. She was a long time resident of Oklahoma City.
Tiny was that person that left a special imprint on all the lives she touched. She would light up a room with her smile, hugs, and kisses. She was adored and admired by all who knew her. Her passions were the Sooners, her church, the Red Hat Society, the Retired Police Officers Organization, and especially her family.
Tiny has supported the Oklahoma Sooners for 40 years, holding season tickets in both Football and Basketball; she attended all the home, and traveled to many of the away games. Many a time you would hear Tiny singing “Boomer Sooner”, and yelling “Texas Sucks” at the top of her lungs. In her church she was always there to lend a helping hand to the rest of the parishioners, and worked actively with the Red Hats. Tiny was one of the first 6 women hired as “Meter Maids” to the Oklahoma City Police force in 1955, and she served honorably for over 32 years, becoming the first female Sergeant in 1977.
Tiny led a very active life all the way to the end. When she was younger she held numerous records as a long distance swimmer, and all through her life she was an avid skier and scuba diver. Just last summer she went snorkeling on the reefs off the coast of Belize. She was definitely of the “Use it or lose it” school of thought.
Being the third child of eight, she was accustomed to having a large family, and worked diligently to bring them all together on the Holidays, helping to host large family Christmas parties, sometimes totaling over one hundred people. Tiny was best friends with all her grandchildren, and even at the advanced age of 83 she would not hesitate to crawl around on the floor, or climb into a makeshift fort constructed of blankets, and pillows to play hide and seek. She will be reunited in Heaven with her parents, 3 of her sisters, a brother, and one of her sons. Their joy will be our loss.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Blanche Chesher; her sisters Nancy Treichler, Betty Joe Harper, and Pat Rodgers; her brother David Chesher, and her son James Thomas “Tom” Miller. She is survived by her husband Brian Faldo, brothers Thomas Aubrey Chesher, Grayford Chesher, and her sister Sue Gray. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Conni Eichler, and son David Miller, as well as her 5 grand children (Kerri, Ché, Kelli, Shannon, and Christopher), and 7 great-grandchildren.
We will go on, as she would have wanted, with only our cherished memories of this great, unique, and admirable woman. We are so grateful, and honored to have been a part of this extraordinary angel’s life. She will be in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held at the Putnam City Christian Church, 4215 N. Grove Av., in Warr Acres, Oklahoma at 1:00 PM on Friday 04/09/10. The services are being provided through the Guardian Funeral Homes West Chapel at 5820 Northwest 41st Street, in Warr Acres, OK 73122-3113. It has been requested that donations to the Putnam City Christian Church be made in lieu of flowers.
