Ina Lou Mackin Marquiss died peacefully on May 5, 2014. She was born June 2, 1930 to Emily and Brown Mackin in Ada, OK. As the young daughter of graduate instructor and a naval officer during the war, she traveled throughout the country, attending 21 schools in 12 years. These travels taught her how to make friends easily and she used this skill throughout her life. She graduated from OU in 1952 with a degree in English. She then worked for KWTV during the infancy of local television. Ina Lou married Robert C. Marquiss in 1953 and their marriage lasted until his death in 2002. After giving birth to their two daughters in 1957 and 1958, she devoted her time to their upbringing. Eventually deciding to return to work, she became the first female stockbroker in Oklahoma to be licensed on the New York Stock Exchange. This was followed by yet another career in commercial and residential real estate sales and development. An introduction to the Commodore 64 computer ignited a passion for desktop computing, leading to involvement in the PC User’s Group where she published their newspaper, The Monitor, winning national awards for her efforts. Preceded in death of her husband, Robert, she is survived by her two daughters: Michelle Hickox and husband, Boyd; Lorraine Meyer and her husband Steve; two grandchildren, Matthew and Haley Meyer. She is also survived by her younger brother William Mackin. The family would like to express a very special thanks to Valir Hospice for their tireless care and support during this difficult time. Ina Lou was a real firecracker and will be missed by all who knew her.
