

Israel Mauricio Álvarez-Tovar was born on September 23, 1973, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, to Jorge Álvarez and Cristina Tovar. He was a devoted father to his five daughters: Brigit, Bianca, Sara Cristina, Jennifer and Marie. Israel is also survived by his parents, Jorge and Cristina. His siblings: Jorge (Nono), Nena, and Nayelli—and his grandchildren: Amiya, Micah, Braylon, Terrell (TJ), Lauchlen, David (Dizzy), and Laisha.
Mauricio was of the first pioneer generation for the Tovar family to have immigrated to the United States of America in the mid seventies.
For over 25 years he worked for FedEx as a hardworking truck driver. Israel dedicated his life to providing for his family. His daughters remember him as a loving and caring father who continued to be an incredible presence in their lives even after his marriage ended. Family moments were filled with fun and laughter, especially during game nights, meals at their favorite Mexican restaurants, or outings for chicken. He was famous for his piñatas at birthday parties, and his love for cooking, especially his famous spaghetti for the holidays, was a cherished tradition.
Israel’s love for music spanned many genres, though “The Beatles” held a special place in his heart. He was also known for his sense of humor, always sharing Instagram videos full of joy and laughter. Whether grilling or teaching his daughters how to cook, he made sure to leave a lasting impact through both his actions and his contagious personality.
His legacy lives on in the love and memories he left with his family, who continue to celebrate his life with fondness and gratitude.

Mauricio perteneció a la primera generación pionera de la familia Tovar que emigró a los Estados Unidos de América a mediados de los años setenta.

A visitation for Israel will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
