

Jack Taylor Massey was born May 7, 1927 in Fredrick, Oklahoma to James A. and Viola T. Massey and died November 18, 2013 in Oklahoma City. He lived in Tipton until he was seven years old, when he moved to a farm south of Elk City, Oklahoma.
He raised Quarter Horses and became active in 4H raising show calves. Following graduation from St. John’s Military Academy in 1945, he entered the Navy one year radar technician program.
After being discharged, he entered The University of Oklahoma where he became a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Upon graduation with a degree in Business, he entered the life insurance business.
He married Sue Neal in 1951. He returned to The University of Oklahoma and received his law degree in 1957 and became a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association at that time. While attending law school he sold life insurance and completed all the requirements for the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation in 1956. He was a member of various professional organizations. He joined United Founders Life Insurance Company in 1963 and served as Executive Vice-President and Corporate Secretary of the Company and its various subsidiary companies, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of all the companies.
He was as an active member in Nichols Hill United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees, as well as Treasurer for many years. He attended Sunday school and worship services regularly. He became active in leadership positions in Scouting and served as Scout Master of Troup 193. He served on the Board of Directors at Epworth Villa since 2003, and on various committees on the Board. He previously was a member of the Beacon Club, Quail Creek Golf and Country Club and the Oklahoma City Boat Club. Jack enjoyed sailing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Massey and his children Sarena Pettit and husband Warren of Hendersonville, TN, Cindy Utecht and her husband Bob of Edmond, OK, J. T. Massey and wife Sara of Ft. Collins, CO and Neal Massey and fiancé Michelle Damian of Lone Tree, CO; his six grandchildren Sara Walker, Scott Lashley, Katie and Andrew Massey, Courtney and Nikki Damian and three great grandchildren Max and Caster Walker and Bowen Lashley.
