OBITUARY

James "Jim" Edward Enloe

May 27, 1937November 4, 2020

"Jim" was born in a small, quaint farmhouse in Fillmore, Oklahoma in 1937. Official records place his arrival in Milburn, Oklahoma as medical assistance was far reaching in the rural southeast Oklahoma. He was the second child to Lorene (Vestal) Enloe and Sherman Enloe following his sister Myrna Loy Enloe. His childhood nickname was "Billy".

He passed away Wednesday, November 4th, after an arduous battle with Covid-19. His 83 years of life were filled with few health events. His illness was preceded by an active life volunteering at Integris Baptist Hospital, working out at the gym in the early morning hours, attending church and classes at Crossing Community Church of Oklahoma City.

Jim Enloe had a unique blend of rural upbringing, military officer service and higher education degrees from Cameron State, OSU, and Central State University.

His career was in air traffic control. Due to the transient nature of the field, his children were born into three different states after marrying Leah Susan Cheatham of Oklahoma City. Following FAA retirement, he enjoyed a professorship at OU Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. Following full retirement, he volunteered over 10,000 hours at Integris Baptist Medical Center.

Jim raised a family of three girls, who brought him two great-grandchildren and five grandchildren. Jim was a hands on grandparent and did not shy away from holding newborns. His presence was noted with his annual ritual of punctually mailing birthday cards to each daughter and every grandchild.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister, ex-wife Susan Enloe and his relatives in southeast Oklahoma. Memorial Contributions will be honored at any local Salvation Army. Goodbye Daddy and PawPaw.

My sister Sarah and I want to express our sympathy and prayers for our cousins Margaret Ann, Nancy and Kathy as well as all of Uncle Billy's friends and family. He was a great "little brother" to our mother and she loved him deeply and greatly appreciated all of your visits to Louisiana and his support of her. They told many stories of growing up in OK and all of the antics with the large extended family that they shared.
All of you are in our minds, in our hearts, and in our prayers.
Love you,
Amy Patrick Gremillion and Sarah Patrick Hurder
