

James Nebgen, age 91, went to heaven on June 12, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was married to the love of his life, Louise Enderlin Nebgen in Stonewall, Texas. They shared 53 years of marriage before Louise’s death in 2011. James was born on August 24, 1932 in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas in Gillespie County to Albert and Bertha Nebgen. James graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 -1956.
They moved to Oklahoma City in 1961 when he started his job at the FAA as an electronic technician working with flight simulators. They raised their four children and they were always very involved with their children’s many activities, taking family camping trips and cross country vacations. They were long time members of St.James The Greater Catholic Church. He retired from the FAA in 1987. After a brief retirement rest, he enjoyed a part time job with Capital Abstract serving as their courier for many years. He and Louise also enjoyed traveling and going to all their grandchildren’s school programs and activities. He was loved and highly respected by all who were blessed to have known him, no matter how brief their encounter. He was a man who knew no stranger.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Louise; daughter-in-law Keri Carpenter Nebgen; grandson Wyatt Nebgen; his parents; brothers and sisters - Marcus, Meta, Annie, Leo, Hilmar, Andrew, Evelyn and Herb.
He is survived by his baby sister, Alice; his children - Gail Robinson, Beverly Ratliff (Brian), Gary Nebgen (Melissa), Bryan Nebgen (Julie); grandchildren - Jacquelyn (Alex), Michael, Paige (Tucker), Rachel (Kody), Nick, Wesley, Grayson, Hoyt and Walker; great grandchildren - Cheyenne, James Easton, Paisley, Jay (J.J.), Charli, Kollin and Avery.
There will be a visitation on Monday, June 17, 2024 in Oklahoma City at Advantage Funeral Home from 3:00 - 7:00 pm.
The visitation/rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 19 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Texas.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Francis Catholic Church in Stonewall, Texas on Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 am with internment at the Stonewall Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stonewall Community Cemetery, a historic Texas cemetery, will be appreciated.
