James Arthur White (Sonny), 77, was born July 2, 1941 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to John P. and Frances L. (Teague) White. He passed from this life on Friday August 31, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at the Advantage Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with the Rev. Bryan Doughty officiating. He grew up in the Ft. Cobb-Oney area where he attended school and helped on the family farm. He was an active FFA member where he raised and showed cows, and won many ribbons for them. He worked as a carpenter for 25 years before having to retire in 1993.
He and the former Ramona Adams were married on June 14, 1968 in Gracemont, Oklahoma. To this union two daughters were born, Shannon and Angela. He was a member of Square Top Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Mr. White enjoyed dancing the two-step, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. His greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances, a brother John White, a sister Wanda Horn, son-in-law Thomas Ozio, niece Amy Watkins, brothers-in-law Roy Williams and Bernard Grider.
Survivors include his daughters, Shannon Ozio and Mike Klonute of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Angela White and Devin Haury of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Adopted daughter Heather Tripp of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Autumn Todd and fiancé Dan Switch of Moore, Oklahoma. Hunter Todd and D.J. Placencia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ra’kira Tripp of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Rae’Anna Johnson of Alex, Oklahoma. Jennifer and Khaled Alwan of Cairo, Egypt, and Jackilyn and Damon Franklin of Anadarko, Oklahoma. Great great grandchildren Peyton and Dan Jr. Switch, Estafania Vasquez, Aminah Alwan and Ethan Thompson. Brother, Everett and Vanda of Chickasha, OK, Sisters Vera Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Fran and Rod Brooks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rebecca and Kevin Brown of North Carolina, Wilma and John Clay of Carnegie, OK, and Alton White of Amber, Oklahoma, plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
