The sun rose over the life of James Zackery on December 20, 1940. Cold Blood or Jackie as he was known to his family and friends. Jackie was born in Clearview, Oklahoma to the late Mr. Willie and Farrie Lambert - Zackery. He attended school and graduated from Clearview High School. Jackie was a spectacular basketball and baseball player. Jack had a love for fishing, gardening, domino's and sports. The playoffs were a special time for him and he celebrated with ribs and Kentucky Fried Chicken at playoff time, with his son Greg. He also had a love for family and friends and took pride in family gatherings. Jackie always talked about his special friend. They grew up together as long childhood friends and remained so to the end, Jack referred to his as his "Brother-Rev.", Elder L.C. Carson.
After the demise of his baby brother, Willie "Unk" Zackery, II, Jack and his big brother Wilbert "Juice" Zackery would visit, conversate, and reminisce for hours on hand and never grew tiresome. Interruption was not allowed between the two. They were a package deal. Jack's heart was big and full of love for everyone and he made his love known through words and deeds. His mother, Farrie once stated: "Jack has always been sticktoitiveness. A job worth doing is a job worth completing. He always stuck by me and never left a task undone". Jack worked and retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company for forty years.
Jack leaves cherished memories with his three sons, Larry James Zackery of Edmond, OK, Derick Zackery (Alana) of Dallas, TX, and Greg Zackery of the home in Midwest City, OK; two daughters, Janet Zackery-Denson of Midwest City, OK, and Travita Zackery-Haywood (Will) of Del City, OK; one step-son, Vincent Walker (Joycln) of Oklahoma City, OK; three step-daughters, Sharletha Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Tamara Jenkins of Texas, and Auntria Johnson of Midwest City, OK; one brother, Wilbert "Juice" Zackery (Ida) of Weleetka, OK; two sisters, Linda Zackery-Bowie of Oklahoma City, OK, and Patsy Zackery-French (Joel) of Clearview, OK; brother-in-law, Alpheus N.
