Jamie Brian McGuckin

Jamie Brian McGuckin, 48, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on July 30, 2026. Born on September 6, 1977, in Springfield, Missouri, and raised by his beloved mother Sherri. Jamie grew up with a strong sense of purpose and dedication to serving others and went on to build a life defined by his Christian faith, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those around him.

Jamie proudly served in the United States Army Reserve under the 4th ID for 18 years, including a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Taji, Iraqi from 2004-2005. While still serving his country, he began his 15-year career in law enforcement as a Detention Officer with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. Which later transitioned to the Oklahoma County Jail Trust Authority while keeping his OSCO commission as a reserve deputy. His exceptional leadership and work ethic led to his rapid advancement to the rank of Major. His passion for learning never wavered, and in 2016 he earned his associate’s degree and CLEET certification through OSU OKC. His outstanding investigative abilities were recognized with a third commission through the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, a testament to the respect he earned throughout his career.

Outside of his professional accomplishment, Jamie was a man of many talents and passions. As a firearms enthusiast, he co-founded Delta Forge Armory, turning a lifelong interest into a successful venture. He also loved the thrill of the hunt, whether spending time outdoors pursuing game or exploring the unknown as the founder of OK DUST, a ghost-hunting team dedicated to investigating the unexplained.

Jamie was an avid sports fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Missouri Tigers, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was also a devoted hockey fan, faithfully supporting the New York Islanders and Colorado Avalanche. In recent years, he developed a passion for soccer, becoming an enthusiastic supporter of Arsenal Football Club and enjoying the excitement of the World Cup 2026. Jamie enjoyed playing golf, paintball, and bowling, practicing martial arts, and spending time gaming on his Xbox.

While many knew Jamie for his strength and rugged exterior, those closest to him knew he also had a creative side. He served for eight years as a board member of Stage Door Theatre in Yukon, Oklahoma, helping support productions and occasionally performing on stage. He also appeared as an extra in I Can Only Imagine and earned multiple ribbons for his artwork at the Oklahoma State Fair. That same creativity extended to the kitchen. He was a great cook whose meals always came with an extra kick of spice.

Above all, Jamie treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tanya Leah Curl-McGuckin; his daughters, Heather Renee McGuckin and Rachel Leah Curl; his mother-in-law, Blanca Lea Alvarado-Curl; brother-in-law, Robert B Curl and his wife Diane; and many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, loyalty, and friendship.

Jamie was preceded in death by his mother, Sherri Lynn Fisher; his grandparents, Jack W. Fisher and Dorothy Fisher; his father-in-law, Michael B Curl; his cousins, Dana S. King and Kallista R. Fisher; honorary nephew Wyatt Sumner; and his father Ralph McGuckin.

Jamie's warmth, humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of service, strength, generosity, and love will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will be cherished forever by family, friends, and all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
