Jane Catherine Melville was born June 17, 1956, to parents Francis Joseph and Isabelle Catherine (Berns) Bortscheller in Le Mars, Iowa.
After finishing primary and secondary school, she moved away to go to Nettleton Business College, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In her lifetime, she lived in many different places including Iowa, Oregon, Illinois, and Nebraska.
After finishing college, she found the love of her life Steven Melville, falling in love instantly and getting married on December 21, 2013. Together they loved to spend time together, listening to music or going to church. Jane was a loving wife and very strong in her faith. What she loved the most in this world was her husband Steven, her family and the church family. She was also a proud member of the Church of Christ on Britton, and the Boys town Auxiliary.
Though Jane has passed away, she will be cherished through the love and memories she created with her loved ones.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Francis J. and Isabelle C. (Berns) Bortscheller, and her brother John Bortscheller.
Jane was survived by Lee and LaVaughn, Covington, Kentucky, Robert and Carol Bortscheller of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Joe Bortscheller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Frank and Sara Bortscheller of Flemington, New Jersey, and Marilyn and Chuck Hammack of Lawton Iowa along with five nieces and seven nephews.
A funeral service for Jane will be hosted on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Britton Road Church of Christ, 2520 W. Britton Rd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120, and an interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens to follow, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162.
